The Analytical Examination of Introducing Recovery Program for Mental Health of Military Personnel: Focusing on Recovery Program of US Army

Abstract
Purpose: By examining operational and managerial problem of mental-health care program of the ROK forces and analyzing the content of military health program enforced in the US army, this study suggests new paradigm for mental-health care program of the ROK forces.

Methods: This study focuses on three categories. The current status of mental-health care program was diagnosed, mainly on "military life special consultant system" and "the Green Camp". The contents and instructional method of the US army "recovery program" were identified. Lastly, the implication of the US army "recovery program" and necessity of implementation of such program were suggested.

Results: "Vision camp" is applied restrictively to maladaptive soldier without considering individual qualities. Lacking concrete instruction and manual. In addition, overall operational problems in "military life special consultant program" were identified with the need of enhancement in specialization and increase in the supply of mental-health care expertises.

Conclusion: The supplementation in system is required such as development of comprehensive and systematic-level program and security of additional expertise for enhancement of soldiers and their families`` mental-health. Moreover, introducing and adapting "the US army recovery program" is required with developing it fit the features of the ROK forces. And also, specialized center and research laboratory are recommended to be established to help recovery of maladaptive soldier and research military mental-health systematically
